- 100 g of fresh spreadable cheese

- 1 roll of rectangular puff pastry
- 100 g of Occelli® with Barley Malt and Whisky
- 250 g of sliced cooked ham
- 1 egg
- Sesame seeds to taste
- Salt to taste
Preparation
The prosciutto and Occelli® with Barley Malt and Whisky puff pastry is a very versatile delicacy: ideal as an appetizer, it can also be used as a second course (depending on the quantity served) or even as a snack to break the fast. In this recipe, we suggest serving them with the Tuma dla Paja Occelli® balls, for a very tasty finger food.
Procedure
Start by preparing the cheese balls. Remove the crust from the Tuma dla Paja Occelli® and work it in a bowl with the spreadable fresh cheese, until you obtain a creamy mixture. Flavour it with a little sweet paprika and mix well, adjusting the salt if necessary. Then let it rest in the fridge for half an hour.
In the meantime, move on to the pastry. First, prepare the filling by cutting the slices of ham into strips and the Occelli® with Barley Malt and Whisky into squares or slices.
Unroll the puff pastry on the pastry board and use a pastry cutter to cut out many squares or rectangles, all more or less the same size.
Now fill each square of pasta by placing a few strips of ham and a few cubes of Occelli® with Barley Malt and Whisky in the center. Close each sheet of pasta like a parcel, lifting the corners to make them meet in the center; press a little with your fingers to seal the closure well.
Place the parcels on a baking tray lined with non-stick paper. Finally, brush them lightly with beaten egg and bake them in a preheated oven at 180°C: 15-20 minutes of cooking will be enough.
While you were preparing the puff pastry, the half hour of resting of the cream cheese will have passed: take it out of the fridge and with your hands create many balls (not big, with a diameter of about 4 cm). Then roll them on a plate in which you have placed the sesame seeds.
Once the pastry is cooked, take it out of the oven and serve it together with the balls!
A couple of ideas: if you like, you can use sesame seeds not only for the balls, but also to sprinkle the sheets, after brushing them with beaten egg. Also, if you want to make lots of cheese balls that are different in color and flavor, roll them in different ingredients: poppy seeds, chopped walnuts, pistachios or almonds, rosemary, chopped chives...
