Beppino Occelli alla Fiera del Rapulè di Calosso

The Rapulè Fair takes place every year in the charming village of Calosso, in the province of Asti, from 18 to 20 October. This event celebrates the tradition of the late grape harvest, known as "Rapulin 'd San Martin", through a food and wine trail that winds through the alleys of the village and the ancient cellars dug into the tuff, the crotin, where visitors can taste typical Piedmontese dishes accompanied by the best wines of the area.

Rapulè is a centuries-old practice typical of the Piedmont countryside, which consists of the harvest of the last bunches of grapes, called "rapulin", left on the vines after the main harvest. This tradition gives its name to the fair and celebrates the importance of the late harvest and its fruits. In Piedmontese dialect, the name of the festival literally translates as "harvest of the small bunches of grapes of San Martino", the saint who symbolically marks the end of the agricultural year.

This year, the Fiera del Rapulè, despite the rainy autumn weather, welcomed many visitors during the three days of the event. Beppino Occelli was selected as a producer of excellence.

Our expert Maître Fromager Alessandro and Riccardo presented a selection of four cheeses from the Gran Riserva, arousing great interest and appreciation from the public:

  • Occelli alla Gamba di Pernice, characterized by a rich and complex taste, the result of a refinement between the "Gamba di Pernice" pomace and Calosso wine which enhances its aroma making it unique.
  • Valcasotto, made with good Piedmontese cow's milk. Full and inviting taste, intense and persistent aroma.
  • Occelli in Chestnut Leaves, aged for about a year and a half in the Ancient Caves of Valcasotto on wooden boards. The forms are then refined in chestnut leaves that transform them and enrich them with a marked and exceptional taste.
  • Robiola Occelli is a tasty cheese, with a beautiful edible nutshell crust, appreciated for its freshness and soft consistency.

Beppino Occelli cheeses have aroused great enthusiasm, confirming the quality and craftsmanship that make Occelli products a symbol of dairy excellence in Italy and around the world.
